In the spirit of frank and unsolicited advice, it was an interesting essay but it took me 1.5 reads to figure out what it was saying. I think you need to be a little more careful about structure, so that the readers can see the connections and understand the conclusions. This paper explains how scientists can do this, based on research done into how people read.
